Six months into the open publishing experiment. How's it going? In June 2009, Artefatica attended BookCamp Toronto. We started with an overview of what Artefatica is, the ideas we're toying around with, and what we're trying to accomplish. Then I talked about our first project and facilitated a 30-minute discussion on authorship, sharing, open culture, and using Creative Commons.
Open Video is a growing movement for transparency, interoperability, and further decentralization in online video. These qualities provide more fertile ground for independent producers, bottom-up innovation, and greater protection for free speech online. The conference will showcase awesome cultural works, inspiring talks, and cool tech demos from around the world.
Culture, education, media, business, politics. Open-source approaches and practices have gone beyond technology. How has this happened in our community? In which domains? What are our stories, successes, challenges, failures? How does open affect the way we work, organize, govern, create?
